What is the Challenge?
The NINE-Week Fitness challenge is an opportunity for you to focus on your fitness and health. You can increase your health NOW by saying “Yes” to the 2009 Winter Challenge. Dedicate nine weeks to the following fitness and nutrition goals and watch as your health and fitness improves.
When is the Challenge?
The challenge will run from January 26, 2009 to March 30, 2009.
How do I sign up?
CLICK HERE to sign up and receive a FREE t-shirt. After signing up pick up your shirt at the JWC Fitwell Services Desk or Fit Center South.
Log your workouts at www.recreation.ucla.edu/iworkout and receive awesome incentives as you achieve certain workout milestones.

Challenge Goals:
1. Cardio - Walk 10,000 steps (about 4 miles) x 5 days per week. Here are some sample walking schedules:

2. Resistance Training - Perform 3 sets of 3 different resistance exercises x 5 days per week.

3. Flexibility - Choosing 3 exercises a day and performing 3 sets of each exercise doesn’t take as much time as you may think. Rest each muscle group at least 48 hours before working it again.

4. Nutrition - 3-5 servings of vegetables and fruits x 5 days per week
By completing this challenge, you’ll see how physical activity and mindful nutrition can be incorporated into your lifestyle for a lifetime!
