Membership Update regarding COVID-19

We have created Refund Forms for various membership types as well as student lockers. Please complete the appropriate form and we will work to complete your request. 

Payroll Deduction - PRD Memberships:
We are currently working with UCPATH to suspend future deductions from your paycheck. We will not resume your PRD amount until the Recreation facilities are back open. If you wish to cancel your PRD membership so your payments do not resume, please click here for the PRD Refund Request Form.

Annual/Monthly Memberships:
All annual and monthly memberships will be paused from the date of the closure. Upon reopening, all memberships will be extended for the length of the closure. If a membership extension is not feasible, please click here for the Monthly/Annual Membership Refund Request Form.

Student Lockers:
We will not clear any lockers in the Spring. All further information regarding lockers will be emailed as it becomes available. If you pre-purchased your locker for Spring quarter and would like a refund, please click here for the Student Locker Refund Request Form.

         -Park Pool (SCRC): 8-lane, 50-meter pool with diving facilities

         -North Pool (Kaufman Hall): 6-lane, 25-yard outdoor pool
         -South Pool (Rehabilitation Building): Warm water exercise pool (for instructional programs only)

Kinross Recreation Center (KREC)

Only accessible by UCLA Faculty, Staff, Emeriti, Young Alumni and former Fit Center South members.

A unique fitness facility located on Kinross Ave. near Lot 36 with an exclusive recreation environment for UCLA faculty, staff and graduate students only

UCLA Marina Aquatic Center: Kayaking, rowing, sailing, stand-up paddling, surfing, windsurfing and equipment rentals

Outdoor Adventures: Challenge Course, wilderness outings, bike shop and rental center

All campus Tennis Courts: Includes tennis courts at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center, Los Angeles Tennis Center (LATC) and Sycamore Park (includes tennis courts and the golf practice area)

Discount pricing for all members who participate in the Bruin Masters Swim Club, Marina Aquatic Center programs, Youth Programs (including summer camps), Outdoor Adventure programs and rentals, private instruction and personal fitness training with certified instructors.

Locker Rentals


Fitness Pass

 $132/year or $35/quarter
Fitness passes allow Recreation members to drop-in to our Group Exercise fitness classes.

Guest Passes

 Recreation members may sponsor guests into a facility for a day pass or purchase a guest pass punch card for multiple visits. 

Set Your Own Pace
Go for a run at Drake Track Stadium or swim laps during open recreation hours. Drop in to any of more than 75 Group Exercise classes, discover great campus walks through Bruin Walkers, our self-directed walking program, or join a pick-up game of FIT Sports hoops or soccer. Whether you work out on your own or with friends, we offer a wide variety of independent exercise opportunities to fit your schedule.

Experience New Activities in our Rec All-Access Brochure
No gym in town can beat the breadth and scope and added benefits of what UCLA Recreation offers in instructional and experiential programs. Refund Policies and Forms

Class and Activity Refunds  

Recreation Cancellation Form

Recreation Classes and Activities Refund Policy
Minimum refund request is $5. Refund requests received by noon 2 business days prior to the first class or meeting receive a 90% refund and requests received prior to the 2nd class meeting may be refunded 50%. 

Marina Aquatic Center Refund Policy
Refund requests received at least three business days prior to the first class meeting are eligible for a 90% refund or 100% transfer towards another in the same quarter. There are no refunds or transfers after the 1st class meeting.

Class Transfer Policy
Transfer requests for FITWELL/Instructional Program classes receive a 100% credit towards another class if used in the same quarter, space permitting.

Personal Fitness Training and Private Instruction
If you choose to pay for sessions in advance, a refund may be issued for unused sessions less a $25 processing fee if the request is received by UCLA Recreation within 6 months of the purchase. Sessions expire 6 months after the date of purchase. 

Outdoor Adventures
Refund requests are reviewed by the Outdoor Adventures staff.

Intramural Sports
Refund requests are reviewed by the Intramural Sports staff. 

Summer Camps
All refund requests must be submitted in writing and received by UCLA Recreation by the dates listed below.

Refund Amount Request Must be Received
90% Before March 31st
75% April 1st - 30th
50% After May 1: No later than 15 business days before the purchased session begins
25% Within 15 business days of the purchased session

No refund after the first Monday of session or week. If UCLA Recreation cancels a program, a full refund will be issued. All camp transfers are subject to a $25 transfer fee per session/week.


Membership Refunds


We want to assure our patrons that during this closure, ALL memberships have been placed on hold. As soon as possible, we will update you with an anticipated reopening date and your membership will be credited for the length of time we were closed. If you wish to cancel your membership, please submit the Recreation Cancellation form below.

For those members on Payroll Deduction, we have suspended future deductions from your paycheck as of our closure. Your Payroll deductions will not resume until our Recreation facilities have reopened and you've been well informed via email. For memberships paid for via Payroll Deduction, by filling out our cancellation form, you are requesting that we do not restart your membership once we reopen.

UCLA Recreation is currently working to revise our membership refund/cancellation policy. If you are interested in a refund or would like to cancel your membership, please fill out the form above. We appreciate your patience while our facilities are closed.


Regular Refund Policies:

Membership card(s) must be surrendered when submitting a refund request form. No refunds for short-term memberships (less than 12 months). 

Annual memberships paid up front are refunded for of the following reasons (and are subject to a one month cancellation fee and require documentation): 

  • Termination of employment
  • Transfer off-campus
  • Formal leave of absence and sabbaticals
  • Changes in medical condition resulting in physical limitations

Payroll deduction memberships may be cancelled at any time with 30-day written notice. No refunds are issued on payroll deduction. 

Fitness Pass
Fitness Pass must be surrendered with the refund request. There are no refunds for quarter passes. Annual Fitness Pass refunds will follow the Membership Refund Policy. 

A 50% refund will be given only for the cancellation of an annual locker rental within six months of purchase. The locker must be cleared. No refunds will be issued for short-term rentals. 

BHIP Continuation
BHIP paid by payroll deduction may be cancelled at any time with 30-day written notice. There are no refunds for BHIP Continuation paid up front per quarter or other short-term duration.


Participant Expectations

UCLA Students, Faculty, Staff, Members and Guests of UCLA Recreation facilities and programs are expected to behave with civility and appropriate conduct. By use of these facilities and programs, you agree to comply with the Participant Expectations and cooperate with staff while utilizing our facilities, programs and services.

The goal of the Participant Expectations is to create and foster a community that is as safe and welcoming as possible to each individual community member. All students, staff, members and guests are encouraged to exercise good judgment in caring for the safety of others as well as themselves. In the event you witness or experience threatening or inappropriate behavior by another individual, please report the situation immediately to appropriate staff. Our Participant Expectations encompass the examples outlined below. The following types of conduct are among those that are specifically prohibited and may result in loss of membership, a report to the Dean of Students office and/or University police:


AGGRESSIVE, UNSAFE OR RECKLESS BEHAVIOR: Aggressive, unsafe or reckless behavior is explicitly forbidden in UCLA Recreation facilities and programs. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Promoting or engaging in physical abuse, verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, harassment, coercion and/or other conduct which threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person. The use of “fighting words” to harass any employee or guest in connection with official University functions or University sponsored programs is also prohibited.

UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY: A valid membership or pass is required for access to all UCLA Recreation facilities and programs. In addition, entering unauthorized areas such as offices and maintenance workshops without the express permission of UCLA Recreation will be considered trespassing.

FORGERY: Sharing identification cards for access into UCLA Recreation facilities or programs is considered forgery. Forgery, altering identification cards, providing false information in connection with a membership application or program form, or unauthorized use or misuse of any University document, record, key, electronic device, or identification is strictly prohibited.

SOLICITATION: Guest sponsorship privileges provide our eligible members the opportunity to share use and enjoyment of UCLA Recreation facilities and programs with individuals with whom they have an established relationship. In the interest of the safety of all users, members should refrain from sponsoring individuals who are unknown to them and to report any solicitations to do so to UCLA Recreation staff.

COMPLIANCE: All users must comply with posted instructions or signs and with the directions of UCLA Recreation staff, University official(s) or other public official(s) acting in the performance of their duties.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Engaging in disorderly or lewd conduct, including being under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances, is strictly prohibited.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO TAPING: Photography or videotaping of individuals in or images of the facilities must have prior Department and campus approval.

UNAUTHORIZED COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY: Posting, advertising, conducting unauthorized private lessons or training, soliciting individuals in UCLA Recreation facilities for personal services, businesses, or agencies is strictly prohibited. The following actions are considered Criminal Activity and will result in immediate police action. UCLA Recreation staff will contact University police and request ssistance addressing the immediate threat. Additional sanctions and restrictions may apply including a loss of privileges and/or a report to the Dean of Students Office.

VANDALISM: Damage to or destruction of any property of the University or property of others while on University premises.

ASSAULT/BATTERY: Violent verbal or physical attack, or an unlawful attempt or threat to do physical injury to another.

THEFT: Removal of or conversion of University property or property of others while on University premises.

DANGEROUS WEAPONS: Possession or use of an explosive device, firearm, or other deadly weapon when on the premises.
